A Romantic Sandals Resort Honeymoon

All The Pretty Flowers

To ease the confusion about bridal bouquets here is a glossary of the most common floral arrangements.

Cascade:  A long, loose bouquet that trails.  The flowers are wired into place to create the shape and the stems are wired and wrapped in ribbon to form a handle.

Dome or Nosegay:  Round, dome shaped and maybe some ribbons trailing.

Hand-tied:  The stems are arranged in the palm of the florists hand and tied together with maybe ribbon, fabric, a handkerchief or leaves.

Presentation:  Long-stemmed flowers carried in your arms, like Miss America, usually calla lilies.

Toss bouquet:  A smaller version of your bouquet, made for the bouquet toss.

Where Is The Sun?

It is raining again!  Argggh!  Where is the global warming when you need it?  Oh well, i have my blog to keep me warm and I am going to shine the spotlight on more of my vendors.

The first spotlight is going to shine on Classic Limousine. Randy is very proud to say that his limousine service is the "official" service for Cheap Trick, The Rockford Riverhawks and On The Waterfront.  He has several packages to choose from, $100 - $200 deposit will hold the vehicle and all vehicles are non-smoking.  He has a limo bus and also an SUV limo, so make sure you check out his website and tell Randy i said hi.

Our second spotlight is on Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden.  Countless numbers of brides haven been married at the Fountain Garden and the Covert Gazebo.  One of my brides had wedding there last year.  It was beautiful!  We were lucky that the weather was cooperating, as my bride did not get a backup (against my warning).  So if you do decide to have your wedding there, and i hope you do, please get a backup!  The Fountain Garden and Gazebo is available for outdoor weddings May through October, so make sure you get your reservation in right away.

Our third spotlight is on Giovanni's.  They have been in business since 1977.  So Banquet team, the Executive Chef and staff have plenty of experience in making your wedding reception memorable.  I have experienced the clockwork precision of the staff at several events and dined there as well and i can tell you without hesitation that i would recommend them highly.  So if you have 100 or over 200 people to accomodate they can handle it.

I Would Like To Have My Wedding On The Water Part 2

I was going to finish my post yesterday, but i was sidetracked.  The other venues i wanted to tell you about are:

Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, WI.  This venue can accomodate 100 - 300 people.  You can have your ceremony outside and your reception inside.  They also have a long list of activities so all of your guests will stay busy.  This place would be perfect for a "wedding weekend".  They also cater for the Lake Geneva Cruise Line where you can have a cocktail reception or a buffet dinner.

Geneva National Golf Club in Lake Geneva, WI.  This venue is not as big as Grand Geneva Resort, but it is just as beautiful.  The landscaping is flawless.  The main room will hold 100 comfortably, they also have The Inns Of Geneva National.  Six inns, each offering six private deluxe guest rooms, two great rooms with fireplaces, floor to ceiling windows and so much more!

Something Old, Something New

Hi, i hope all of your wedding planning is going well.  Have you noticed the weather we have been having lately?  I love it!!!  I hope it stays like this, i am sick of winter!  Winters in Northern Illinois seem to last forever.

I wanted to put the spotlight on a couple of "old" vendors and 1 "new" vendor.  Our first spotlight shines brightly on Sound Productions DJ Service.  Ryan Nelson loves what he does and it shows!  In business since 1997 Ryan and his team of MCs and DJs are committed to making your event a success.  On his website you will find his play list, descriptions of his packages and other helpful resources.  He will probably hate me for saying this, but when you meet with Ryan give him a hug from me.

Our second spotlight is on AAA Quality Limousines, Ltd.  In business since 1985, Brendan "Buff" Blackler runs a very tight ship.  You will not have to worry about your limo not showing up.  They operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  His website is very informative and easy to navigate and make sure you check out his discount packages.

And our third spotlight is on Briggs Mansion. This is a new vendor that i am very excited about!  It is such a beautiful place to have your ceremony and your reception.  This something that Rockford should get behind.  Let me give you some history of the mansion.  It was constructed between 1861 and 1863, it has 6 marble fireplaces, 12 foot ceilings and a parquet floor and a grand staircase.  A bride would definitely look beautiful coming down that staircase!
