Tommie J. Johnson, 48 was unable to get married on Saturday due to the fights that he had with his family, according to police. The groom-to-be suffered severe head injuries after the two altercations on Friday night. Police received the first call at 6:17pm, where the victim was struck by his mother and sister during the wedding rehearsal at New Zion Church.
The second call came in at 8:00pm, when two other males started beating the victim. During this altercation he had been beaten on the head and was knocked unconcious. He was then airlifted to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison and treated for severe head injuries.
The grooms mother, Clara Tubbs, was arrested for her portion of the assault. The police are still investigating the incident.
La Crosse
Nicholas Morrison, 22 did not get to have the happy wedding night that he wanted, he spent his wedding night in a La Crosse County jail cell.
Police said the groom was intoxicated and unruly when he was arrested for disorderly conduct at 11:55pm Saturday as his wedding reception at the La Crosse Center. Officers arrived to find the groom being held down by guests of his reception in the Center's lobby. Police dispatch received a call about the groom causing problems, throwing garbage cans and refusing to leave the building. Morrison then attempted to cause problems at another wedding reception at the Radisson Hotel.
When police attempted to take him into custody, Morrison tried to free himself and refused to cooperate. He posted $150 bond on Sunday morning. No court date has been set.
